Morning Prayer for Sunday December 20
Welcome to Morning Prayer from the Anglican Parish of Pasadena and Cormack for the Fourth Sunday of Advent! We are joined by Megan King (Opening Prayer), Wanda Osmond (2 Samuel 7:1-11, 16) Rachel and Rebecca Penney (The Song of Mary), Ron and Jennifer Day (Prayers of the People), and Ed and Debbie Humber (leading our music, which today includes their original song, The Hanging of the Greens, as well as Mary, Did You Know? and The Cry of Bethlehem). Ed also gives an introduction to the tradition here of the Hanging of the Greens on the 4th Sunday of Advent. Rev. Joe Pagano gives the sermon, based on the gospel lesson, Luke 1:26-38. The stained glass window of Jesus is in St David of Wales Church. Thank you for joining us today!
You can watch the video of the service here:
You can listen to an audio only version here.
After today, we’ll be taking a little break from recording daily morning prayer and be back on Christmas Eve. Hope to see you then. Blessings and joy, Joe and Amy
This service was very, very good! This is equivalent to a SUPA.
What I liked about it was that it made me think of many different things other than just Mary was going to give birth to Jesus.
The terms Rev. Joe used such as “community of disciples” and “the community of church” were terrific to get the point across that we do not grow our faith with out others. BUT the best, to me, was the use the Lone Ranger, how perfect.
May you both relax for a few days before the coming of the Lord and have a joyous Christmas.
Thank you for sharing morning pray.
Godspeed, Peter
